Ever since it was named after The New York Times in 1904, Times Square has made two things abundantly clear: it can be neither replicated nor subdued. We rejoice in that, and remind ourselves of how far this place has come. The Times Square Alliance is proud to continue to work to improve and promote Times Square, so that it retains the creativity, energy and edge that have made it an icon for entertainment, culture and urban life for over a century.

Tim Tomp

Times Square has been as busy as ever over the past few months, as visitors flocked to both New York City and the Crossroads of the World. Taste of Times Square was once again a great hit, the real estate market was active, and hotels reached some of the highest occupancy rates in the city.

In addition to providing security and sanitation with 50 Public Safety Officers and 50 Associates, the Alliance continues to promote local businesses, co-coordinates numerous major events in Times Square like New Year’s Eve, and advocates on behalf of its constituents with respect to a host of public policy, planning and quality-of-life issues.
