Times Square goes to the dogs for a fun-filled afternoon of canine camaraderie to raise awareness for Animal Haven’s Adopt-a-Pet program.
WHEN: Sunday, October 19, 2008
WHERE: In Times Square on Duffy Square, 46th St and Broadway.
Dogs of all breeds and sizes are invited to dress up and enter the contest, with prizes awarded to the dogs whose costume best evoked Times Square’s past or present, including historical figures like the VJ Day Sailor and Nurse, current Times Square characters such as New Year’s Eve celebrants, or even Broadway icons like the Phantom of the Opera. Additional prizes are awarded to the runners-up, or “Honorable Hounds”. Winners are selected by spectators and by celebrity judges. |
THE 2007 CHAMP IS HERE!

A MONSTROUS HOST:

2007’s celebrity host was none other than Trekkie Monster from the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical AVENUE Q. As a furry Monster, Trekkie has a great fondness for dogs and puppies and is an advocate of pet adoption...and costume parades! |
All participating pooches had a larger-than-life experience, as the entire event was broadcast live on Times Square's giant Panasonic Astrovision screen.
ADOPT-A-PET
This special event also spotlights Animal Haven’s Adopt-A-Pet program.
The Times Square Alliance will be hosting the Seventh Annual Animal Haven Adopt-A-Pet Day on Wednesday, October 24, 2008 from 11am – 3pm at the Times Square Information Center on 7th Avenue between 46th and 47th.
Animal Haven is a no-kill shelter and sanctuary that finds homes for abandoned animals in the Tri-State area. For more information on Adopt-A-Pet and Animal Haven, go to www.AnimalHavenShelter.org.
