Circle in the Square Theatre School (CITSTS) is the only conservatory for acting and musical theater in a Broadway theater facility. The School was founded by Theodore Mann in 1961, developed with Paul Libin since 1963, and has been under the leadership of Executive Director E. Colin O'Leary since 1979.

Kevin Bacon, Benicio Del Toro, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Felicity Huffman, Justin Kirk, Lady Gaga, Matthew Lillard, Andrew McCarthy, John C. McGinley, Idina Menzel, Nicole Ari Parker, Jeremy Shamos, Thomas Sadoski, Molly Shannon, Nick Wyman and many of America's finest performers have studied and blossomed at The School, which attracts students from across the United States and around the world.

Students are engaged in a vibrant and comprehensive curriculum for deep learning and career development. The School's accomplished faculty prepare students for successful careers using an eclectic mix of approaches. Two-year professional training and a seven-week summer intensive are offered, with tuition among the lowest for conservatory training in New York City. CITSTS is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre. Financial aid and scholarships are available for students in the two-year Professional Workshops.

The School's Outreach Program has served over 120,000 youth, teens and senior citizens by utilizing the talents of our graduates and current students to help New York City schools educate and engage students through two popular performance series and a playwriting residency serving 139 underprivileged third-graders this year. The new initiative “Teens On Broadway” celebrates and encourages students from New York City public performing arts high schools who are invited to present their best works of the year at Circle in the Square Theatre each spring.
