Since 1992, all businesses in NYC have been required to separate recyclable materials from garbage. In order to increase recycling in businesses, the Department of Sanitation clarified the business recycling rules earlier this year. Beginning summer 2016, all NYC businesses will be required to comply with changes to these rules and certain businesses will be required to source separate and recycle food waste.
