With the construction of the gleaming New York Times headquarters, and the development of several new high-rise residential condominiums along Eighth Avenue, the district continued to enjoy great change in 2006. To read more about what happened in 2006, click one of the links below:
2005
In 2005, the Alliance laid out a vision for addressing the many pedestrian and streetscape issues facing Times Square in a plan titled, Problems & Possibilities: Re-Imagining the Pedestrian Environment in Times Square (.pdf). Thanks to additional funding from Mayor Bloomberg, the City Council and Congressman Nadler, the Alliance was able to move forward with the renovation of Duffy Square. 2004
2004 marked the 100th Birthday for Times Square. From our Design Times Square competition to our retail initiative to our yoga Summer Solstice event in the middle of Times Square, the Alliance has managed to capture and celebrate the diversity and creativity of the district.
