The New York City Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) empowers consumers and businesses to ensure a fair and vibrant marketplace. Their site offers business toolboxes and consumer resources.

The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene website can help you identify the necessary health related permits and licenses to get your business off the ground.

The Department of Sanitation's website offers information about city santitation programs and protocols that may affect your business.

The Department of Small Business Services (SBS) makes it easier for businesses in New York City to form, do business, and grow by providing direct assistance to business owners, fostering neighborhood development in commercial districts, and linking employers to a skilled and qualified workforce.

The "Made in NY" discount card is an incentive for filming in New York City, that offers discounts and special offers to productions from more than 1,000 participating vendors. This program is an attraction for film productions and a benefit for participating businesses.

The NYC BID Association is a non-profit organziation comprised of the leaders of NYC's Business Improvement Districts. The BID Association communicates important information, ideas, and best practices among its members; coordinates interaction between BID directors and key contacts, elected officials, and City representatives; and advocates on behalf of its membership on important issues to support the work of and further the goals of BIDs citywide.

NYC Business Express helps identify the requirements to open a business in New York City. Their site also provides useful resources and incentives information.

NYC & Company is a private, nonprofit, member-based organization—and the official marketing, tourism and partnership organization of the City of New York. Currently, 2,000 businesses are members of NYC & Company. Benefits of NYC & Company membership include the opportunity to participate in various marketing programs. The Street Activity Permit Office issues permits for street fairs, festivals, block parties, green markets, commercial/promotional and other events on the City's streets and sidewalks. Use their website to learn about permitting rules and procedures for any outdoor events your business may pursue.
