Join us at B.B. King Blues Club as Rocks Off presents a tribute to the four heaviest metal bands of all time - Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax - performed by four of the Tri-State area's hottest tribute bands: Misstallica, Show No Mercy, Peace Sells, and Thunderbox.
Misstallica is the world's greatest and only all-female tribute to Metallica! Formed in 2008 as a side project to the girls' already successful band Queen Diamond (an all-female tribute to King Diamond and Mercyful Fate), Misstallica was the response to the want and need for old-school thrash metal with pretty faces to go with it. Misstallica offers the Metallica experience, but with boobies!
The Misstallica repertoire focuses on the first four Metallica albums (Kill 'Em All (1983), Ride the Lightning (1984), Master of Puppets (1986), and ...And Justice for All (1988)), with a few of those cover gems from Garage Inc. (1998) thrown in for good measure. These girls are real-deal, no-joke musicians. They bring the thrash, bang, and boom better than most men. Skeptics, be prepared for a good old-fashioned ass kicking, and metal friends, come one and all to bang your heads. Misstallica rules!
SHOW NO MERCY
Show No Mercy is New York City- and Long Island-based four-piece band that exclusively covers songs by the legendary thrash metal band Slayer. What sets this cover band apart from other tribute bands is its focus on the early and often forgotten songs in Slayer's 28-year history. The earliest version of SnM (as the band is often called) was formed in 2005 by Leo Bakman and Alex Abayev. After briefly performing under the name Reborn, they soon realized the moniker brought about confusion - they didn't want people to think they were a Christian band.
After a tumultuous period of lineup change, SnM reemerged under its current name in 2009 and performed extensively on the New York City tribute band circuit. After yet more lineup changes, the current roster debuted at the world-famous Duff's Brooklyn in February 2010 and has been on the road ever since, performing knockout Slayer tributes around the Tri-State area.
Peace Sells is a Philadelphia-based tribute band to legendary '80s metal outfit Megadeth, popular for albums like Peace Sells ... But Who's Buying? (1986), Rust in Peace (1990), and Countdown to Extinction (1992). The band features Megazack as the fiery-haired and fingered frontman.
Burning its way across the Northeast, Thunderbox is the ultimate all-girl metal tribute. Featuring some of the hardest-playing ladies in the state of New York, the band nothing but mayhem and empty bottles in its wake. With a set list that includes Metallica, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Danzig, and Motley Crue, this band leaves every metalhead fanboy (and girl) drooling for more. Fans both stateside and abroad are waiting patiently, as the girls are in the studio creating their first original EP, with a video storyboard in the works and lots of surprises. Prepare yourself for the reign of Thunderbox!
Adding a new band as the object of their tribute affection, tonight the ladies of Thunderbox transform into "Caught in a Box," the Lady Anthrax Tribute!
