Bill Burr is an American comedian or a comedian from the North American Union, depending on when you read this. He grew up outside of Boston, Massachusetts and did fairly poorly in school, despite the fact that he applied himself.
Having first gained notoriety for his recurring role on the second season of Chappelle’s Show, Bill developed a comedic style of uninformed logic that has made him a regular with Letterman, Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Fallon.
Bill will be seen again this summer in his recurring role on the hit AMC-TV show, Breaking Bad, and is currently filming the Paul Feig female buddy cop project starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. He recently completed filming the Al Pacino and Christopher Walken film, Stand Up Guys, and contributed to the 2012 and 2011 ESPYS.
On November 11, Bill received a standing ovation for his sold out show at Carnegie Hall and the following night he received the prestigious Comedian of the Year Award from the Boston Comedy Festival; previous recipients include Steven Wright, Denis Leary and Lewis Black. Bill is selling out theaters internationally with his second theater tour of Europe playing to standing ovations and rave reviews in London, Copenhagen, Oslo, Helsinki and Stockholm.
One of the most popular comedy podcasts on the web, Bill’s Monday Morning Podcast, is an off-the-cuff weekly rant that has become a fan favorite. Bill began the podcast in May of 2007 and has produced over 200 episodes.
Bill’s short film, Cheat, had its World Premiere at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival and screened at the 2011 Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. Bill produced, co-wrote and stars in the film with fellow comedians Joe DeRosa and Robert Kelly. Based on a true story, the film follows three friends on a mission to pull off the perfect score.
Bill’s second hour Comedy Central special, Bill Burr: Let It Go, premiered on September 19, 2010 to rave reviews and was released on DVD and as a digital audio download. The unedited version of the special is now available on Netflix. The special was recorded in December 2009 at The Fillmore in San Francisco and captures the comic at the peak of his skills.
Bill can be seen in the Steve Carell & Tina Fey feature, Date Night, and his first hour special, Why Do I Do This?, premiered on Comedy Central in the fall of 2008 to rave reviews and is now available on Netflix, CD and DVD.
In the near future Bill hopes to get married and have some kids. But until then, he will continue to spend most of his mid-afternoons sitting in his sweatpants learning AC/DC songs on his SG.
Bill is against organized religion and believes we should go back to the gold standard for our currency. None of his opinions are based on any sort of reliable information. He tends to go with his first thought, because reading makes him sleepy.
