Media with a Times Square Alliance-issued Temporary Press Credential may move through the emergency access lanes, subject to NYPD approval. Interviews may not be conducted in the emergency access lanes. Interviews may be conducted at the rear or the sidewalk side of each viewing area but not in the emergency access lanes. Interviews and filming may be suspended at any time by the NYPD due to safety concerns.

Application Process for New Year's Eve Temporary Press Credentials

To obtain a Times Square Alliance Temporary Press Credentials to cover the Times Square New Year's Eve 2013 celebration please:

a) Click here to submit the online application form.

b) Send one (1) email to presscredentials@timessquarenyc.org with the following three (3) supporting documents as attachments. In the email subject line enter: "NYE Credentials: Last Name, First Name, Organization"

  1. A letter on company letterhead from your Media Organization outlining your request for a Temporary Press Credential. The letter must indicate the name of each individual requiring credentials, including support personnel who must cross police lines and their assignments for the evening. Freelancers will be required to have the company for whom they are working submit a letter on company letterhead requesting a Temporary Press Credential on their behalf.
  2. A digital scan of a government-issued identification: e.g., driver's license or passport
  3. A recent photo of each individual requiring temporary credentials cropped to 1.5” x 1.5” in size, saved as “First Name_Last Name” and in .jpg file format.

If any of these items are not attached to your email, your application will be considered incomplete and will not be processed.

Tues., Dec 3, 2:00 p.m.: NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Public Information ("DCPI") New Year's Eve briefing at the Times Square Alliance office. PLEASE NOTE THE ADDRESS CHANGE: 165 West 46th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues, Suite 308. The agenda will include an event overview, set-up, credentialing and a review of policies.

Monday, December 10, noon: Deadline for submitting complete application for Temporary Press Credentials.

Thurs., Dec. 20: Approved applicants for temporary credentials are notified by email.

Thurs-Fri., Dec. 27-28, 9:30 a.m to 4:30 p.m.: Temporary credentials available for pick-up at Times Square Alliance office at 165 West 46th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues, Suite 800. A government-issued photo-id will be required.
