Trio of Yogis to Host Embeddable Webcast of Daylong Yoga Event to Mark the Longest Day of the Year Available at TimesSquareNYC.org on June 21st, 2013
(NEW YORK, N.Y.) – The Times Square Alliance today announced that yoga enthusiasts around the world will get to experience the 11th annual Solstice in Times Square via a 14-hour, live, free webcast of the event, during which thousands of Yogis will come together for a collective ohm in one of the world’s busiest and most frenetic places: Times Square. The Times Square Alliance and title sponsor Athleta, the premium fitness and lifestyle apparel brand for women, will offer up free “Mind Over Madness” yoga classes and a yoga village from 7:30a.m. to 9p.m. on the longest day of the year.
The webcast, which is sponsored by Tampax® Pearl® Active and produced in partnership with Livestream, will be hosted by yogis Amy Pearce-Hayden, Sherida Mullins, Tracye Warfield and Tim Tompkins, President of the Times Square Alliance.
The webcast will capture all of the day’s activities, most notably the five, free outdoor yoga classes and the yoga village. The classes include:
- Early morning yoga at 7:25a.m. featuring veteran instructor, acupuncturist and Athleta model athlete Drisana Carey with special pre-class meditation by Tao Porchon-Lynch, 94 years-young and founder of the Westchester Institute of Yoga
- Tampax Pearl® Active pose demonstration at 9:45a.m. and mid-morning yoga at 10a.m. with Paula Tursi of Reflections Yoga in NYC
- Lunchtime Bikram yoga at 1p.m. taught by Donna Rubin of Bikram Yoga NYC along with special guests
- Late afternoon yoga at 5:30p.m. taught by Colleen Saidman and her husband Rodney Yee
- Evening yoga at 7:45p.m. led by Douglass Stewart, co-founder of Solstice in Times Square
Thanks to a custom-designed embeddable video, the event organizers and Livestream are providing viewers with a full feed experience that includes live video, chat, photos, text updates, real-time DVR, animated GIFs and video highlight capabilities. This full feed experience is available for digital media outlets, bloggers, webmasters and Facebook users to embed as a source of fun and entertaining content on their own sites customized for their communities.
