New Yorkers and Visitors Will Enjoy 19th Annual Outdoor Food and Music Festival at the Crossroads of the World
New York, NY --- The Times Square Alliance announces the return of Taste of Times Square – an outdoor food and music festival – featuring international flavors from the district’s top restaurants and the city’s best street performers at the Crossroads of the World. More than fifty of Times Square’s most popular culinary destinations will set up tables on the street to offer “tastes” ranging from $2-$6 on Monday, June 11 from 5:00 - 9:00pm. The event will be on 46th Street between Broadway and 9th Avenue, including historic Restaurant Row, and on the Broadway Plazas from 45th – 47th Streets in Times Square.
“We invite all New Yorkers and visitors to bring their appetite and celebrate summer with us at the Taste of Times Square,” said Tim Tompkins, president of the Times Square Alliance. “The district’s delicious international cuisine paired with sweet sounds from around the globe showcase the diversity of the Crossroads of the World.”
Newcomers to the event this year include: Ca Va Brasserie, E&E Grill House, Little Town NYC, Mr. Robata, NIOS Restaurant, Nuchas, Rickshaw Dumplings, Salume and Snackbox.
Participating restaurants include: Barbetta Restaurant, Becco, B Smith’s, B.B. Highlighted street musicians provided by the Hard Rock Cafe Times Square include: Mariachi Real De Mexico, Moses Josiah playing his musical saw, Paul Mueller with a hammered dulcimer, Baby Soda Jazz Band, Alais Lucette on the harp, classical guitarist Don Witter, Jr., and the Ebony Hillbillies performing bluegrass.
Other entertainment locations include: the Drum Café, an interactive African drumming circle where attendees are part of the show, the smartwater® Swing Tent featuring George Gee and the Jump Jive n’ Wailers Swing Orchestra plus free dance lessons from Dance Manhattan Studios made possible by Swing 46, and the Coca-Cola Happiness Café on Duffy Square featuring performances by the Jazz Collective.
The food and music festival has no admission fee. Each “taste” ticket is $1 with most dishes ranging from $2-$6. Tickets will be available for purchase in advance at the Times Square Museum and Visitor Center on 7th Ave. between 46th and 47th Streets and on the day of event.
