New York, NY (December 11, 2012) –  The Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment, co-organizers of the annual Times Square New Year’s Eve Celebration, announced today that national television and radio star Allison Hagendorf will be the Official Host of  Times Square 2013, the New Year’s Eve Celebration at the Crossroads of the World.

Hagendorf, who recently wrapped hosting the debut season of The CW’s music competition show “The Next: Fame is at Your Doorstep,” will now be hosting the world’s most famous New Year’s Eve celebration seen by more than a billion television viewers across the globe. She will kick off the six-hour celebration at 6 p.m. when she will welcome the nearly one million revelers attending the event in Times Square; and introduce the star of the show, the Times Square Ball. At the top of each hour, Hagendorf will be joined by one of the television network hosts or other celebrities in Times Square to talk about their New Year’s Eve experience, share their Confetti Wish for the New Year, and lead the revelers in an hourly countdown as anticipation builds towards the midnight countdown and spectacular Ball Drop. Throughout the night, Hagendorf will keep the revelers informed about the musical performances and other exciting entertainment in Times Square including exclusive interviews and backstage access.

 “As a native New Yorker, Times Square has always played a starring role in my life, especially since my grandfather served as Broadway Box Office Treasurer for nearly 50 years,” Hagendorf said. “Since my childhood, I’ve watched the Ball Drop at midnight on TV every year, and I am honored to be there live as the official host to help ring in 2013 for the revelers in Times Square and everyone around the world.”

A national television and radio personality, music journalist, branded-content producer and voiceover artist, Hagendorf, a New York-area native, hosted “The Next,” which was produced by Queen Latifah and Dave Broome (“The Biggest Loser”) and featured Nelly, Gloria Estefan, Joe Jonas and John Rich. Previously, Hagendorf hosted numerous shows on Fuse TV, including “Top 20 Countdown” and “Grammys Live.” Hagendorf is also the host of MSG Network’s “Music Fridays” and recently partnered with AOL to create the original music travel series, “Signature Sounds with Allison Hagendorf.” In addition to music, she is the host of the “Cosmo for Guys” radio show on SiriusXM.
