(Times Square, New York – December 26, 2012) – Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment, co-organizers of Times Square New Year’s Eve, today announced the official Times Square New Year’s Eve event lineup featuring live performances by Taylor Swift, Carly Rae Jepsen, Neon Trees and Psy as well as a special performance of John Lennon’s Imagine by Train just before midnight.

The public can take part in shaping this year’s scintillating celebration by downloading the free official 2013 Times Square Ball App; and by writing their wishes for 2013 on pieces of confetti at the Times Square Museum and Visitors Center located on Seventh Avenue between 46th and 47th Streets or online at www.timessquareNYC.org.  The confetti wishes will be mixed in with the one ton of confetti that floats down on New Year’s Eve revelers in Times Square at midnight.

In addition,  revelers across the globe will get to experience the Times Square New Year’s Eve festivities, including the famous Ball Drop and select performances via a six-hour, live commercial-free webcast of the iconic global party at www.TimesSquareNYC.org; www.Livestream.com and www.TimesSquareBall.net on December 31, 2012.

Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment are also pleased to announce a partnership with WhyHunger to celebrate the charity’s IMAGINE THERE’S NO HUNGER campaign at this year’s Times Square New Year’s Eve extravaganza. Donations to the campaign will also go to WhyHunger’s grassroots partners who are on the front lines providing food, water and critical services in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. WhyHunger is a leader in building the movement to end hunger and poverty by connecting people to nutritious, affordable food and by supporting solutions that inspire self-reliance and community empowerment.

On New Year’s Eve, approximately one million revelers will fill New York City’s Times Square and more than one billion worldwide are expected to tune in on television or online for the historic Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball Drop.

National television and radio star Allison Hagendorf, the official host of Times Square 2013 and the webcast, will get the party started in the Crossroads of the World at 6 pm by welcoming the revelers and introducing the star of the show, the Times Square Ball. Throughout the night, Hagendorf, among other things, will keep revelers and viewers of the official New Year’s Eve webcast informed about the musical performances and other exciting entertainment in Times Square, including exclusive interviews and backstage access.
