TECHNICAL INFORMATION

BROADCAST TRUCKS

Only satellite/microwave news trucks, with permission from the NYPD, DCPI and the Times Square Alliance, are allowed to enter Duffy Square. Please note that load-in is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 31, 2007, according to a staggered schedule determined by the NYPD and the Times Square Alliance. All trucks must be in place no later than 4:00 p.m.

If you arrive early for a morning shoot, you must depart by 11:00am and return at the scheduled load-in time.

Please be aware that Duffy Square is currently a construction site. Due to the vulnerable nature of the area the following guidelines must be followed by all media using a truck in Times Square for New Year’s Eve. The guidelines will hold true during the timeframe commencing at 12:01AM December 31, 2007 and end when your truck has left the Times Square area.

All media must notify the Times Square Alliance of when you will be arriving with any vehicle. You cannot and will not park a vehicle for New Year’s Eve unless there is a representative of the Times Square Alliance or its agents present. The network will be held responsible for any damage to any part of the site caused by their vehicle.

As mentioned above the following truck specs must be submitted to the Alliance no later than Thursday, 12/20:

  • Exact truck dimensions
  • Indication of which side of truck the stairs are on, if any (i.e. passenger or driver's side)
  • Microwave vs. satellite truck

No credentials will be issued until truck specs are received.

By driving your truck upon the property you agree to abide by these rules.

FREQUENCIES (RF)
Broadcasters may be restricted from using certain frequencies this year. Failure to comply with these restrictions may result in ejection from the media riser and the Times Square area and prevent getting a spot on the media riser in the future.

FIBER AND PHONE LINES

Fiber-optic, DSL and phone line service is available in Duffy Square. The Times Square Alliance is not responsible for these services. To place your order directly with Verizon, please email radiovideo@verizon.com with the subject line "New Year's Eve Duffy Square."
