Times Square’s annual concert series celebrating the talented singer-songwriters of the theater community returns for its third season. Tune in and enjoy FREE concerts by Broadway’s multi-talented artists, from their living room to yours.
é boylan (Soft Butter, Femmebodys)
é boylan (they/them) is a director/creator/composer developing new work towards trans liberation. Past selected honors include: 2019 Trans Lab Fellow, 2019-20 MTC Directing Fellow, and the 2020 NAMT Award. Currently: Member of Roundabout Theatre Company’s Directors Group, Resident Artist at Musical Theater Factory and Lincoln Center Theater.
Isis (Nia Witherspoon: The Dark Girl Chronicles, Priestess of Twerk, MESSIAH)
Nia Witherspoon (Smith BA/Stanford PhD) is a black queer theatre-maker, composer, and cultural worker investigating the metaphysics of black liberation and pleasure. Witherspoon is a Writer-in-Residence at Fordham, Creative Capital Awardee, Jerome New Artist Fellow, and resident artist at HERE. She is thrilled to debut her rap alter-ego Isis, as a part of the Priestess of Twerk project.
Matt Wolpe (Rock of Ages, Once, Finding Neverland)
Matt Wolpe is a singer, songwriter, actor, and multi instrumentalist with 6 records out. Before the pandemic Matt was starring in the new immersive production of Rock of Ages in Hollywood as Lonny, a role he previously played Off Broadway. Other Broadway and National tour credits include Once and Finding Neverland. The former Bumble Bee Tuna singing spokesman has graced your TV screens in numerous commercials and web series.
The Broadway Buskers concert series is curated and hosted by Ben Cameron, and co-curated by Musical Theatre Factory.
While the concerts are FREE to stream, we encourage audiences to donate to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS’ COVID-19 Emergency Assistance Fund, which provides resources and emergency financial assistance to those within the entertainment community who have been impacted by the pandemic, and the Broadway Advocacy Coalition, in support of their ongoing efforts to help Broadway heal, listen and become an anti-racist and equitable community.
