COUNTDOWN TO NYE
The Songs for Our City songwriting challenge has asked members of the Broadway community to write original songs inspired by the past year and the present moment. They will share their new songs in free live concerts, with audience votes deciding who will perform again in the final concert for a panel of industry judges. The participating songwriters are primarily past performers of the Broadway Buskers concert series, which showcases Broadway actors and up-and-coming composers performing their own original music. Join us for this celebration of the theatre community, creativity, and live music.
All concerts are FREE, open to the public, and for all ages. RSVP for limited seating!

é boylan (Soft Butter, The Doctor is Dead)
é boylan (they/them) is a director/creator/composer developing new work towards trans liberation. Past selected honors include: 2019 Trans Lab Fellow, 2019-20 MTC Directing Fellow, 2020 NAMT Award. Currently: Member of Roundabout Theatre Company’s Directors Group and a Resident Artist at Musical Theater Factory and Lincoln Center Theater.
Jaime Cepero (Connecting…, Francois & The Rebels, Daddy)
Jaime Cepero is a Queer Afro-Latinx actor, writer, and activist most known for playing Ellis Boyd on NBC’s musical drama Smash. His musical Francois & The Rebels was part of MTFMusicals 4X15 Workshop, Joe’s Pub New Works, and NYTB new musical series. He is founder of Intersectional Voices Collective, a Queer/Black-led artist coalition, and co-organizer of the March on Broadway racial justice movement.
Jasmine Forsberg (Broadway Bounty Hunter, Love in Hate Nation)
Jasmine Forsberg is originally from Orlando, Florida and is a recent graduate of Penn State’s BFA Musical Theatre program. Off-Broadway: Broadway Bounty Hunter. Regional: Love in Hate Nation (World Premiere, Two River Theater). Other: The Lucky Boy (Premiere, Kirsten Childs). Endless love and thanks to her family, friends, and mentors for their unwavering support.
Max Sangerman (Smokey Joe's Cafe, Footloose, Beau)
Max Sangerman is a multi-instrumentalist and actor born and raised in Gary, Indiana. He began writing songs back in high school with his ska band, Don't Date Jake, which remain on YouTube to this day. Some of his favorite songwriters include Allen Stone, Ben Rector, and Ben Folds.
Will Van Dyke & Jeff Talbott (Little Shop of Horrors, Pretty Woman)
Will Van Dyke is an NYC-based singer-songwriter, music supervisor, and a 2020 Grammy Award nominee. Will has orchestrated and arranged shows both on Broadway and Off, and is a frequent collaborator with many of New York City’s finest talents. Will has released multiple albums, which are available wherever digital music is sold. He writes songs and musicals with Jeff Talbott and has a band.
Jeff Talbott is a playwright, lyricist and librettist. He writes musicals and songs with Will Van Dyke, which is much more fun than writing plays alone. He lives in Sunnyside, Queens.
