COUNTDOWN TO NYE
Join us for the Finale of Songs for Our City, a songwriting challenge and virtual concert series celebrating the creativity and resilience of our community featuring new original songs written in response to the present moment. The participating songwriters are all past performers in our Broadway Buskers concert series, which showcases Broadway actors and composers who are also singer-songwriters.
Audience votes sent one participant from each of the initial six concerts into the finale and viewers will cast their vote again for the Audience Choice Award in the final concert.
The finalists will perform their songs once more for a panel of industry judges, including stage and screen star Tituss Burgess, SIX the musical creators Toby Marlow & Lucy Moss, Tony and Grammy-nominated Broadway composer and lyricist Andrew Lippa, and Time Out New York’s Theater Critic Adam Feldman. The judges will choose the First and Second Place Winners at the end of the concert.
As part of Time Out’s Love Local Campaign, these seven virtual concerts are free to view. We encourage viewers to donate to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS’ COVID-19 Emergency Assistance Fund, which provides resources and emergency financial assistance to those within the entertainment community who have been impacted by the pandemic, and the Broadway Advocacy Coalition, in support of their ongoing efforts to help Broadway heal, listen and become an anti-racist and equitable community.
