Agoraphobia/Pleinvrees
In partnership with the French Institute Alliance Française’s (FIAF) Crossing the Line Festival, Times Square Arts kicked off the Fall 2012 Arts Program with Agoraphobia/Pleinvress by director Lotte van den Berg. Performed in the midst of the bustle of Times Square, a solitary man walked in circles talking to himself, yet his words were picked up by audience via cell phones.
With Agoraphobia/Pleinvress, Bessie Award-winner Donald Fleming returned to his hometown of New York for his first performance in the city since 2007. Agoraphobia/Pleinvress was at once an intimate monologue about how this solitary man experiences the world and an insightful performance experience for spectators.
Agoraphobia/Pleinvress was presented September 20-22 once daily for an hour at 3:00 pm, with an additional showing included on Saturday, September 22 at 11:00am. The performance took place on Military Island - the Broadway Plaza between 43rd and 44th Streets.
