Cocoa Tea performs at Sony Hall featuring Top Shotta Band and Screechy Dan
Cocoa Tea was born Calvin George Scott in 1959 in Kingston, Jamaica. He recorded his first song 'Searching in the Hills' in 1974. In 1985, he released his debut album Weh Dem A Go Do...Can't Stop Cocoa Tea. Then, he worked with the producer King Jammy and notably released the hit 'Who She Love' in 1988 with Shabba Ranks and Home T. Cocoa Tea is a conscious artist with serious lyrics. His career moved forward in the 1990’s with the release of 'Riker's Island', 'No Blood For Oil' and 'Oil Ting'. He also started his own label, Roaring Lion in 1998 upon which he released several singles recorded by himself and featuring different artists.
