The not-for-profit organization, dedicated to entertaining, enriching, and expanding a global community for jazz through performance, education, and advocacy, will take over Times Square to bring New York City’s jazz scene to Broadway. JALC will infuse the area with good vibrations, featuring some of the most talented emerging artists amidst the hustle and bustle of Times Square.
Antonio Hart credits the Baltimore School for the Performing Arts for beginning his life as a young man and musician - especially his private teacher Chris Ford. He initially began as a classical musician but began to like Jazz and feel more connected to the change to improvise which brought him to study Jazz at the Berklee College of Music.
His 1997 release “Here I Stand” earned him a Grammy nomination for ‘Best Jazz Instrumental Solo’ and has recorded 8 CDs since including his latest ‘Blessings’. He currently balances his time as Director of Jazz Studies at The Aaron Copland School of Music, Queens College and travels with his Big Band and the Dizzy Gillespie Big Band.
