(NEW YORK, NY — March 16, 2026) — Times Square Arts is pleased to announce that on Thursday, April 2, 2026, one of New York’s busiest and most iconic crossings will once again host Black Trans Femmes in the Arts for the fourth annual Trans Day of Visibility showcase. Hosted by Kimberly Jones and Milan Garçon, the suite of programs—including DJ sets and performances—puts trans visibility into action and celebrates the lives and contributions of trans people at the crossroads of the world.
Black Trans Femmes in the Arts (BTFA) is a community-focused arts nonprofit that creates spaces for the production and preservation of Black trans art and culture, providing Black trans femme artists with the resources and support necessary to thrive and create without limitations.
Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV), taking place across the globe annually on March 31, celebrates the joy and resilience of trans and non-binary people everywhere by elevating voices and experiences from these communities. Every year, BTFA hosts events and exhibitions across New York City to celebrate TDOV and, for the past four years, has curated a slate of programs and performances in partnership with Times Square Arts.
The fourth annual Times Square TDOV showcase is hosted by Kimberly Jones and Milan Garçon and includes a DJ set by Lita Da Doll and performances by The Masterz at Work, Iconick, Miss Mojo, and Julie J.
Further programming details will be announced soon.
“BTFA equips Black trans femme artists with the resources and opportunities to make work, advance their careers, and experience the incredible cultural dynamism of New York City. We are so grateful to Times Square Arts for their partnership and excited to showcase our incredible performers at this most iconic intersection,” says Jordyn Jay, Founder and Executive Director of Black Trans Femmes in the Arts. “This event is about so much more than visibility. It is a celebration of Black trans femme vision, talent, and joy. And we welcome all.”
“Times Square Arts is thrilled to once again partner with Black Trans Femmes in the Arts to host this extraordinary celebration of Trans Day of Visibility in the heart of Times Square,” said Anna Starling, Director of Times Square Arts and Vice President, Development & Partnerships at Times Square Alliance. “Times Square has always been a place for all to gather and let their voices be heard. Times Square is ready to showcase these incredible artists in the name of visibility and celebrate their vision and talent.”

ABOUT TRANS DAY OF VISIBILITY
Each year on March 31, the world observes Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) to raise awareness about transgender people. It is a day to celebrate the lives and contributions of trans people, while also drawing attention to the disproportionate levels of poverty, discrimination, and violence the community faces compared to cisgender (non-transgender) people.
International TDOV was created in 2010 by trans advocate Rachel Crandall. Crandall, the head of Transgender Michigan, created TDOV in response to the overwhelming majority of media stories about transgender people being focused on violence. She hoped to create a day where people could celebrate the lives of transgender people, while simultaneously acknowledging that due to discrimination, not every trans person can or wants to be visible.
